She took a long shaky breath. She hadn't told anyone this much before.
But slowly, her voice continued the story, letting the characters of memory, awash in blood and needless hate, lunge for one another again.
"He was consumed by something.. I don't know what, but it was there. He seemed to see only the fight, and was fighting any cat he came across.
And soon, the battle was basically over. He'd scared each cat too much, and IceClan was spitting and backing down.
But Hawkfrost continued to fight as if that was all he could do. And I saw my father step up to stop him, heard him growl...."
And the vision took on a new frame.
The dark gray tom spun around, hissing in the brown and white tom's face, the two toms equal in height and bulk, but one with slight white tinting his muzzle, his dark blue eyes looking angrily at the blood-washed tom. The other glared with ice-blue eyes full of malice, missing each word he said, his eyes filled with a hunger.
"Hawkfrost! Thats enough!" Growled the tom in a deep strong voice.
"We have won. Let them-" But he was cut off midsentence, as the tom lunged at him, bowling the black cat backwards and away to the gasps of many others.
He seemed not to recognize who he was fighting or what he was doing, but the tom called Hawkfrost continued fighting without pause.
His vision was clouded with red, and all he saw was the movement of an enemy.
Gasps echoed around as the tom growled, and the two fell into a furious writhing mass, screeches echoing through the trees and rocks, and the grass and stones under their paws turned red nearly instantly.
The small black cat watched on in horror, before a screech rattled her throat.
"No!!!!!!!!" She screamed, racing forward frantically and shoving her way through her bloody clanmates, leaping onto the back of the brown tabby tom and trying her best to tear him from the choking gray tom's back.
The brown tom unhooked his claws from the gray tom's throat, spinning around to face the new brave adversary.
He clawed at the black she-cat, tearing her right ear and snapping at her throat, but her claws came up and defended each time.
She was in shock though, and could only squirm on the ground under him.
"Hawkfrost! Stop! It's me! Please STOP!" She she cried through her pain, blood trickling into one ice-blue eye as she stared up in horror at the monster over her.
Slowly the tom blinked, the words reaching his ears like through a sea of water, and his eyes began to uncloud.
He stumbled back in horror, looking down at his red paws and back to the gasping little black she.
He was suddenly filled with a rage as he saw the blood.
"Who did this!?"
The tom yowled, whirling around to find the tormenter of his mate, intent on ripping his heart out and making the cat eat it.
The she stared at him in horror like he was crazy.
But then a choking bloody sound was heard, and she looked back to see the gray tom on the ground, were he still hadn't gotten up.
She raced over screaming "Rockstar! Dad! No! Get up! Milkfur, save him! He's on his last life!" She screamed with panic, crouching over the quivering form of her father and lapping wildly at the blood that just kept coming, until it spilled from her mouth and nearly made her choke.
The brown tom stared from afar.
What was going on? Had he done that?
Faint memories stirred in his head, and he shook his head wildly.
A golden she-cat and brown tabby tom glared at him darkly.
The tom with the amber eyes whispered softly so only he could hear.
"Monster." He spat.
