Ravenkit scowled up at Stonestar once she wriggled from her mother's grasp, standing squarely and giving a soft hiss. "I said I wanted to go!" She raked her tiny claws over the ground, leaving very faint marks. "I want to go outside of the camp."
Her ears pinned back and she felt like storming off, but she kept her glare at her father, glancing quickly toward Pantherclaw as she left.
Doveflight blinked herself awake, languidly stretching her limbs. She'd slept just a bit longer than usual, and she was paying for it, finding it particularly difficult to extract herself from her oh so comfortable nest. She yawned and allowed herself one more stretch before getting to her feet and padding out the den. Her ears pricked at the sounds of kits playing and, though she'd never desired any of her own, a soft purr sat in her chest as they tussled with one another'.
Doveflight made her way over to the group, snatching a small bird from the fresh-kill pile on her way.
"Sending cats on adventures without me?" she joked, catching the tail end of Stonestar's instructions. She dipped her head respectfully at the leader, and then Shadowfall, pushing the prey towards the queen.
"I figured you'd need this, considering the three bundles of energy you're managing now,"

Shadowfall dipped her head gratefully, pulling it near her and beginning to eat it quickly. It was against everything she believed to eat before others, but she was a queen and it was a rule within the Clan that she needed to be one of the first fed. It was finished quickly, and she refused to allow the kits to try any for the simple fact she was afraid they weren't old enough to eat it without choking.
She turned her focus back to Doveflight, glancing from her to Stonestar, and loosened her grip on Smokekit and Mothkit so they could roam a bit again. She did not want to restrict them - but some of the Clan's business was what she didn't want them to hear.
Darkpaw chuckled at her mentor's excitement but nodded with enthusiasm at the prospect of training especially if they well be starting out hunting. "I am ready for anything Webfur!" The dark brown apprentice gave the white splash on her chest a quick lick before hopping to her paws and following the grey tabby tom through the entrance tunnel and out into the forest taking off running as soon as they were clear of the thorns and off towards the dark area of their territory that they had come to know as the Badger Hollow.

Stonestar nodded to Pantherclaw as she gathered up her patrol, twitching his tail thoughtfully and thanking StarClan not for the furst time for such loyal warriors. He turned as Ravenkit began putting up a fuss, his demeanor softening again as he leaned down to nose his daughter. "You will get to go out soon enough, don't worry my little warrior. But while we're out we leave the camp open to attack from rogues or the other Clan. So can I trust you three to stay here and guard your mother and Brackenstripe and the camp until we return? This is a very important job." He said with serious airs and look in his sterling eyes.
He paused to look up as Doveflight approached and chuckled, nodding to his deputy. "Oh don't worry Doveflight. You and I will be going over the plans again and strategy. You and Pantherclaw are also leading battle training today, so be ready for a full day."
Ravenkit perked up at this, quickly puffing out her chest and lifting her chin. "Well, I'll protect the Clan. Besides," she lowered her voice, craning her neck as far as she could to get closer to his ears. "I'm the smartest - Mothkit would be too scared to fight and Smokekit it too much of a mousebrain!" She giggled a bit, her eyes flashing with arrogance.
She trotted over to the fresh-kill pile, heaving over a squirrel and pretending to eat it for simple entertainment. It truly was boring to be stuck in the camp at all times. "What a delicious squirrel!" She yowled, as if every cat in the Clan were listening to her. "I praise the hunter for their abilities."
Pantherclaw purred, shaking her head slightly. Ravenkit would prove to be quite the troublemaker, much like herself in those days. Looking about, She decided it best to fill her belly before heading out, the travel would prove to be harder on an empty stomach. Flicking her tail, she joined the few others around the fresh-kill pile and picked herself out a small vole. Not too big to limit quickness if needed, but enough to energize her for the patrol. She chuckled at Ravenkit, nodding her agreement. "Praise the hunters indeed."
Smokekit flicked his tail in annoyance. His sister's name calling was simply irritating. He knew what she said wasn't true. I'm not mouse brained! She is! He walked away from his mother and stood hear the center of camp. He looked around at the warriors. He liked seeing them being busy. The way they could enter and exit camp freely made him jealous. But he understood that he wasn't old enough. His golden eyes followed the Stormclan cats as they moved about.
Shadowfall watched Smokekit prod off, cocking her head curiously at his sudden burst of what seemed to be anger or something alike. She padded after him, sitting next to him and giving her son his space. "Why, don't listen to your sister," she purred gently, tapping his head with her tail-tip. "Perhaps one day you will be leader and rule over her. Then you will prove her wrong."
She didn't like to act like one of her kits was better than the other, but she couldn't stand to see them upset, and Ravenkit did, in fact, have a habit of not knowing when to close her maw. She simply purred quietly next to him, allowing him to take her words in any way he wanted.

Ravenkit turned to Pantherclaw, getting to her paws and moving even closer to her. "Maybe you can take me out of camp?" She lowered herself into a crouch, her tail waving behind her. "You can teach me some battle moves, and maybe I'll catch a mouse and show Stonestar than I can handle myself!"
She glanced behind the warrior, watching her mother and Smokekit interact with a bit of jealousy, but pushed it away. "What do you say?" She said, eyes wide as she looked up at Pantherclaw hopefully.
Pantherclaw chewed at her vole contently, stripping the bones of any meat they had one them. With rival clans stealing prey, and the prey wandering, these were times not to be wasteful. She saw the kit scoot closer from the corner of her emerald eyes as she swallowed her last bite. Here we go.. she thought, with a light chuckle. Licking her chops, she eyed the kit, flicking an ear at her proposition. She has guts..I'll give her that. She thought, licking at a dark paw. "Ravenkit, you know I can't do that. You'll have plenty of opportunities to leave camp when you're an apprentice." She told her with a sigh. "There will be so much stuff to do out of camp you'll be grateful to stay in camp every once and a while." Pantherclaw rose to her paws, bowing in a stretch. "Besides, how old are you? You don't have too much longer to wait I would imagine." Yawning slightly, she shook out her ebony pelt before flicking at the kit with her tail. She knew that if she didn't walk off now, Ravenkit would continue with her mewling, eventually getting to the soft-hearted she-cat.
His eyes stared at her, taking some time to think about what she said. After a while he spoke. "I want to be the best warrior ever! That means I should be a leader one day." That was his logic at least. Smokekit fell silent again. He decided to keep the rest of his thoughts to himself. I don't want to rule my sister. I just don't want to be called 'mousebrained!'[/b] The kit looked at Ravenkit begging to go out of camp. She seemed very eager to go. All the kits wanted to explore, but Ravenkit was the most excited about it. He turned to face his mother again. "When can we leave camp? I want to see the territory too!"
Ravenkit huffed a loud sigh, plopping back down on her haunches and hanging her head slightly. Cats always seemed to overestimate her age since she was larger than a typical kit. "I'm two moons old," she mewled with disappointment, her ears turning sideways. "It'll be forever before I can get out of here!" And with that she stalked off, finding a ball of moss that must have been blown from a nest and beginning to bat it around half-heartedly, her tail hung behind her.

Shadowfall felt a pang of sympathy for Smokekit at his tone, and she gave a soft sigh, bending over to lick one of his ears affectionately. "Being leader is a lot of responsibility. Do you kits see how busy your father always is?" She turned to Stonestar, wondering what business he had to attend to next.
"And you may leave the camp when you are an apprentice and have a mentor," she said, flicking her tail. "But for now you are much too small, vulnerable to predators and enemies. I will not take a chance of you getting lost or..." She swallowed hard, trailing off and going silent again.
Father... Smokekit focused on his father who was across camp. He was always doing something or telling others what to do. It seemed like a lot of work. Too much for a kit to understand. His mother's worried voice made him curious. What was she talking about? She sounded like she knew something. Smokekit tilted his head at Shadowfall. "Are you okay ma?"
Shadowfall nodded quickly, using her paw to keep his gaze one hers. "Just promise me you won't leave this camp until you are taken by your mentor," she said in a completely serious tone, her eyes wide with worry. "You must promise me that."
Her tail twitched behind her almost impatiently, and her ears were pricked forward and listening directly to her son. She wanted to hear him say it, she needed the comfort of knowing he had at least promised her.
Her voice and gaze were so serious. It made him actually afraid. He didn't want to disappoint her so he answered quickly. "I promise I won't leave camp until I go with my mentor." Smokekit's little voice was very genuine. His golden eyes stared into his mother's eyes. They looked sad. He didn't want her to be sad.
