History: Kit to Leader
Story: Nightkit:
Born in Stormclan on a bright, warm day, Nightkit was wild and out-going from the start. Many times she could be caught running out of the nursery and following warriors around, or chasing butterflys, even out of camp! She loved everything about Stormclan, the weird thing called mud that she got to play in, the tough-looking, sharp-clawed warriors, and the inside-friendlyness that the other cats gave her. From the beginning, Nightkit was loved.
Her mother, Moonfur, was Mudclaw's mate. It was said that Mudclaw was related to Stormstar-the first leader and founder of Stormclan.
Sometimes, when Nightkit and her brother, Frogkit, were stuck in the nursery because it was raining outside, Mudclaw would go into the nursery to tell them stories.
"And that is why my dad's dad lost his leg," finished Mudclaw. Nightkit perked her ears and dropped her mouth open, and Frogkit bit his lip.
"Seriously? No way! I know that I'm never going to mess with a rogue anytime soon," Frogfur peeped.
Nightkit giggled.
"Coward! I'm going to be fighting rogues all the time! I'll even hunt down Oneeye and take off his leg for taking off dad's grandpa's leg!"
This made Frogkit angry.
"Don't call me a coward! I will be hunting down rogues. You just wait and see!"
Mudclaw chuckled.
"Okay, you two, it's time to sleep now. Moonfur will be back soon, she's just getting some herbs for a bellyache. I'm going out for a patrol."
Nightkit and Frogkit sighed.
"Awww!" they both said.
Mudclaw kissed them on their heads.
"I'll be back soon." And with that, he walked out of the nursery, into the rain. He disapeared, and all that was left as quietness.
Nightkit turned to Frogkit.
"Fighting sounds like fun. Not to sound mean or scary or vicious or anything....but it really does."
Nightkit padded to the entrance of the nursery and stared into the rain.
One day, I'll be out there, in the rain...fighting for Stormclan along side my brother, Dad, and Mother!
Frogkit watched Nightkit stare out of the nursery, and he padded up to her. he started chatting to her, but she wasn't listening.
One day...
5 months later, Nightkit went to the nursery entrance and padded out.
Warriors padded to and fro, some patroling, some chatting.
Only one sunrise till I'm an apprentice! Then a warrior! Yippee!
She stepped into the snow and breathed in the fresh air. Life was good.
I
Nightpaw: Apprentice.
The snow blew into Frogpaw's face. He coughed and sighed.
"Darkeyes, do we have to be training now, in the middle of a snow storm?"
Darkeyes growled under his breath and rolled his eyes.
"Yes, we do, Frogpaw," he said curtly.
Frogpaw shivered and leaned into Nightpaw.
He whispered, "I don't like Darkeyes. He scares me."
Nightpaw shrugged and leaned away from Frogpaw.
"Get over it! You're an apprentice now! Toughen up, okay?"
Frogpaw stared at Nightpaw for a brief moment, before nodding and returning to Darkeye's side.
Nightpaw watched him, and sighed under her breath. After seven sunrises of trianing, Frogpaw was already struggling. Nightpaw tried to help him succeed in his trianing but "toughening him up". But so far? No progress.
Nightpaw tried not think about how Frogpaw was weak, and not smart, unlike Nightpaw.
Frogpaw had dead black fur like Nightpaw's, and He was actually quite attractive, but that was his only talent. Fighting and hunting were not easy for him.
Nightpaw watched her brother for another heartbeat, before looking at her own mentor-Pinetail-a senior member of Stormclan.
Pinetail's elegant white fur-which is rare for a Stormclan cat to have-made her blend in with the falling snow. The only thing that could be seen was her black tip on her tail and her green eyes.
"So, are we hunting today? Border patroling? Collecting herbs for Doepaw and Smalltail?"
Pinetail chuckled and looked back at Nightpaw.
"None of the above. We will practice fighting in the snow."
Nightpaw perked her ears.
"Really?"
"Yup," she replied.
Nightpaw smiled and looked ahead. Pinetail stopped walking, and Darkeyes also stopped with Frogpaw.
"We're here," Pinetail said.
Nightpaw stared at her surroundings. GOGUS!
The white pine trees loomed around her, along with tall white bushes.
The ground sloped downwards into a clearing, all white with snow, mind you, with a frozen pond in the middle. Birds chirped and flew about, then landed on the ground, only to fly up again.
Squirrels chased eachother around trees, and mice could be heard scuffling into their burrows.
Nightpaw opened her mouth.
"Oh. My. Starclan. This place is beautiful!"
Pinetail chuckled.
"Yea, it is. I come here often to just sit and stare at the pond..."
Pinetail stared thoughtfully at the pond in the middle of the clearing.
Nightpaw knew where she was going in the afternoon!
Darkeyes finally broke the ice-literally. He walked to the pond and broke the ice with his paw, then turned to Frogpaw and Nightpaw.
"Pinetail and I shall demonstrate how to fight in this terrain. Watch carefully," said Darkeyes in his deep voice.
Pinetail had backed up on the other side of the small pond. She unsheathed and sheathed her claws, then growled. Darkeyes watched her carefully as she backed onto her haunches and sprang forward, over the pond.
Darkeyes yowled and stayed his ground, until Pinetail knocked his head onto the ground with her paws, then flung her back end around and held his hind legs down. Darkeyes recovered quickly, and did a snake-like move. He wiggled his way from under Pinetail, then did something that looked painful to Pinetail...He covered her eyes with his paws, temporarily blinding her, then bit the soft part of her sking between her eyes gently. Pinetail yowled and fell back. Darkeyes moved out of the way as she fell onto her back. He used this moment to rake his belly-claws sheathed-then drag her by the scruff into the edges of the clearing.
By this time, Pinetail recovered and thrashed out until she caught her paw onto a tree root and flipped herself over. Then Darkeyes and Pinetail disapeared into the forest.
Frogpaw and Nightpaw looked at eachother. "Woah..." Frogpaw whispered.
After what seemed like moments, Pinetail and Darkeyes came back into the clearing, both huffing and puffing.
Blood trickled down Pinetail's eyes, and Darkeyes had a bite on his leg.
Finally, Pinetail said, "That was the first part of fighting. It is used to test how your oppionent fights, and how easily he or she recovers."
"Yes," Darkeyes agreed. "Next I dragged Pinetail deep into the woods, into the bushes and trees and mud. We stopped fighting then, so you and Frogpaw may try this."
Nightpaw breathed in. "So when fighting...in the first part of fighting...I should use basic, "test" moves?"
Pinetail nodded.
"Correct. See how Darkeyes bit me between the eyes? That was to weaken me to get me into the thick part of the woods. You have to do a move like that to get your enemy into the thick part of the woods. Got it?"
Nightpaw and Frogpaw nodded.
"Then we will work on the second part of fighting-weakening, and confusing your enemy. you will use your best fighting moves, while also hiding and sneaking up on your enemy, then hiding back in the snow. Remember, always have a good grip, or you will slip," said Pinetail.
"But move quick. Make your enemy slip on the snow. Use the woods and snow as your advantage."
Darkeyes nodded.
"Then the third part of fighting-finishing off your enemy. Weaken he or she even more, then finish them off with a good, hard bite in the belly, flank, or leg. Don't leave your enemy still strong and barely bloody-make sure they run away, whimpering, scared, make them fear you..." Darkeyes stared off into the distance, so Pinetail continued.
"Alright, you guys ready?"
They nodded.
"Then start," said Darkeyes.
After hours, Nightpaw and Frogpaw were drop-dead tired. Blood trickled down Nightpaw's muzzle-Frogpaw forgot to sheathe his claws-and Frogpaw was limping.
But Nightpaw still felt an urge of...energy? Like she could keep going, on, on, on, forever....Fighting.
Sleeping in the apprentice den, Nightpaw was restless. She wanted to keep fighting, to feel the energy, the power...
I will tell Pinetail I want to train more on fighting. Tomorrow she said we will work on tracking and sneak-attacking, then how to get a cat back from somewhere if they are being kept hostage. Maybe she can take me out to fight in the afternoons...
Nightpaw shifted to the other side of her flank and stared out the entrance of the apprentice den.
Fighting...It's what I do.
5 months later....
Blood stained Nightpaw's claws as a Fireclan warrior fell on his side, and Nightpaw started to claw his flank. The warrior yowled and sruggled to get up, but he was weakened. He slowly stopped thrashing as hard, and he shakily tried to stand up. Nightpaw stood back and looked at the bloody warrior. He glared at Nightpaw, before running away, limping, back to Fireclan territory. Nightpaw yowled victory as she watched the last of the Fireclan cats run away.
Victory!
She looked to her left and saw Mudclaw, limping-but okay-with Frogpaw. He leaned against Mudclaw, his mouth open, eyes wide. Blood streamed down his leg and ear, but he looked fine. Moonfur stayed in camp, so she was probably okay.
"We did it!" She jumped onto a rock and stared around the clearing. Pinetail and Darkeyes were helping a she-cat get up. She had blood all over her fur, and Nightpaw shivered at her.
Fireclan cats had no stamina to fight a while, but when they did fight, they left their mark.
Nightpaw hopped off the rock, landing easily on the ground.
She padded up to Mudclaw and Frogpaw.
"I'm going to patrol the border to make sure all of the fireclan cats have left and-"
"Hold on there, Nightpaw," said Mudclaw.
"You are hurt, and you need rest. Come back to camp with us," Mudclaw said sternly.
Nightpaw sighed-she wouln't argue with her father.
"Fine."
Nightpaw glanced around the clearing again, but shrugged and walked beside Finchflight. The young warrior barely looked tired, and she only had a small cut on her back.
She looked at Nightpaw and grinned.
"You did a great job fighting today. Those Fireclan warriors were so afraid of you! They probably didn't even know you were an apprentice," Finchflight giggled.
Nightpaw held her head up high and chuckled.
"Aww, thanks."
She looked at Finchflight. "And you barely have any scratches on you. Did you scare all the Fireclan cats away without even attacking them or something?"
Finchflight shook her head.
"Nah, they all fainted from my beauty!"
Nightpaw chuckled, and so did Finchflight.
Once back at camp, everyone re-grouped. Sharpstar was on the highrock, staring at the in-coming cats. He had blood trickling down his cheek, front leg, and a deep wound on his scruff.
"All cats who are old enough...eh...all cats, please join for a clan meeting," Sharpstar said tiredly.
"We have succesfully defeated Fireclan, and I doubt they will come back to fight again!
Please visit Doepaw and Smalltail to get your wounds checked. Mistfoot will be leading a border patrol soon, so any cat who wants to go, Mistfoot will be leaving soon.
But please come back before dusk, I have a warrior cereomny to do."
Sharpstar's eyes rested on Nightpaw, and she grinned happily.
"Meeting dismissed".
The rest of the day went by in a blur. Nightpaw went to Doepaw to get her front leg checked out, -It only needed some cobwebs placed on it, and Doepaw gave nightpaw poppy seeds for the pain, all the meanwhile telling her that she was excited for the cereomony-, Then Nightpaw helped Frogpaw limp back to the apprentice den to take a nap with Moonfur on his heels.
Nightpaw finally went down to the pond to clean herself, which only took her a couple of heartbeats, then went back to camp, waiting for Sharpstar to announce everyone to go to the highrock.
Cats moved around the small camp, getting their wounds cleaned, eating herbs, or emerging out of the warrior's den. Nightpaw stared at the warriors' den.
I'm going to be in there soon! Among Finchflight, Frogpaw, Dad, and Mom! I'll be a warrior! A warrior!
Nightpaw realized she had been staring at the den for a while when Flintpaw came over to her.
"Hey Nightpaw!"
Nightpaw looked at Flintpaw.
"Heya!"
Flintpaw had just been made an apprentice. She and Nightpaw had become friends instantly.
"Excited for the cereomony?"
Nightpaw smiled.
"YOu bet I am," she said with a grin.
Flintpaw nodded.
"Awesome!" Nightpaw nodded, and Flintpaw ran to the freshkill pile.
Finally, after what seemed like ages, Sharpstar walked up to the highrock. He looked tired, but his deep cuts now just looked liked mild scratches.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, please join me for a clan meeting."
He sat down on the highrock, and Nightpaw daintly trotted to the bottom of the highrock. Pinetail and Moonfur stood near her, both proudly staring at the she-cat. Mudclaw edged near Frogpaw with Darkeyes, and they both looked sleek and proud.
"Nightpaw, Frogpaw, and Doepaw, please come to the top of the highrock," Sharpstar said in his deep voice.
Nightpaw slowly, on shaky legs, walked to the top of the highrock. Frogpaw and Doepaw followed her from behind.
She stared at Sharpstar, then at all the cats below the highrock.
The highrock is so huge! I can see all of Stormclan's camp! Nightpaw puffed out her view and observed all the cats at the bottom of the highrock.
Up here, I feel like a leader!
Nightfur! Frogleap! Doeheart! The words rung out through Nightfur. She proudly sat vigil with Frogleap near the Stormclan entrance. She glanced over and saw Doeheart proudly sitting with Smalltail, both chatting like old friends.
I'm Nightfur, of Stormclan! Nightfur proudly said the words in her head.
Nightfur of Stormclan...
Soon, will one day, be deputy of Stormclan, then leader! I just know it!
Nightstar, leader of Stormclan...that doesn't sound bad, does it?

Nightfur: Warrior of Stormclan
_________________
Nightfur and Frogleap were both wide awake. It was middle of night, the vigil was almost over, but Nightfur and Frogleap were Stormclan cats-they were night cats.
Nightfur glanced at Frogleap. He sat statue-still, staring off into the distance. Nigthfur glanced around, then prodded him in the side with her paw.
"Pst! I love your warrior name, Frogleap! Aren't you so proud?" nightstar whispered.
Frogleap snapped his head at his sister.
"Very. Now shut up, okay?"
Nightfur stuck out her bottom lip.
"Fine." She rolled her eyes and stood up.
Crack!
Nightfur turned her head to Frogleap. He turned his head to her head.
Nightfur angeled her ears to the right, the Stormclan way of saying to strain their ears to the right. Frogleap listened, and another crack was heard. Nightfur tensed and looked into the woods. She couldn't see anything, but something was defaintly coming towards Stormclan camp-and it/ or they/ was loud!
But just like that, it stopped.
Nightfur started to walk to the edge of the woods. Frogleap followed her.
But Then the next moments of her life happened so quickly.
Yowls of cats were ear-splitting! Cats broke through the woods and leapt into camp, and Nightfur had no time to sound the alarm.
A small, red cat locked onto her and before Nigthfur knew it, she was pinned onto the ground.
Pain went through her muzzle and eyes, and Nightfur was blinded. She thrashed out her paws and tried to grab hold of her attacker, but she couldn't lock onto anything.
The attacker bit into her shoulder, and Nightfur cried out in pain, but she could see again.
Nightfur grabbed onto her attacker's ear with unsheathed claws, ripping it off instantly and pulling herself up. The cat reared back in pain, and Nightfur took this moment to knock her over and scratch at her exposed belly and throat. Blood spilled out easily, and the attacker yowled.
Nightfur kept biting and clawing at the cat until finally, all that was left was a blood-red tom, running off into the woods.
That teaches him not to mess with me!
Nightfur huffed then turned around to see the whole Stormclan camp up in fighting.
Mudclaw and Moonfur were fighting side by side, thrashing at two other cats. Doeheart and Small tail were helping Darkeyes, who was seriously injured.
Nightfur looked for Frogleap, but she could not see him.
But then she looked and saw the elder-Jaggedtooth-being pinned by a huge she-cat. Nightfur limped over to Jaggedtooth's attacker, and she bit into the cat's scruff and hauled her backwards, off of Jaggedtooth. Nightfur moved out of the way of the falling cat, then stepped back when the cat easily stood back up.
"You think a simple move like that will take down me? Silly Stormclan apprentice!"
Nightfur's eyes widened.
"I'm not an apprentice! And I'm just getting started," she snarled. With an earsplitting yowl, she snaked under the cat and knocked back her hind legs.
Then Nightfur used a move her mentor taught her-she jumped onto the cats head with claws unsheathed to daize the cat.
It worked. The cat moaned, and Nightfur grinned.
Jaggedtooth nodded at Nightfur.
"I can handle this. Why don't you find your brother. He ran off into the woods with another cat following him," Jaggedtooth said with her old, creaky voice.
Nightfur's eyes widened.
Oh no...no no no!
She backed away and dodged a cat that went flying over Nightfur onto another cat. She quickly made her way to the exit of Stormclan. She dashed through, only to be bumped back by in-coming warriors. Fireclan warriors.
She jumped over some of them, and ran into the woods.
The scent of Fireclan cats over-took her, but she could still smell the scent of Frogleap-and another cat.
She followed the trail into the clearing with the pond-and there he was.
Blood covered his handsome body, and a Fireclan cat loomed over him.
"Get away from my brother!"
Nightfur raced down the slope and knocked herself into the warrior. The warrior, knocked over not excpecting Nightfur, fell into the pond. Nightfur left him there, then ran to Frogleap.
He was knocked onto the ground, his eyes shown with defeat.
"I'm so sorry..."
Frogleap looked up at Nightfur.
"It's okay...I'm fine...really..." Nightfur looked at Frogleap.
He was not okay.
At all.
"We should get you back to camp, huh?"
Frogleap shook his head.
"No...finish off the Fireclan warrior...For me."
Nightfur flinched at Frogleap's quiet voice, slowly getting quiet and quieter, and his eyes, slowly closing.
She turned around to see the thrashing of the Fireclan warrior.
He was yowling for help saying, "I can't swim! Please!" He disapeared under the water, then back to the surface.
Nightfur looked back at Frogleap.
"I don't kill warriors, or any cat, for a matter of fact." She sprang up and went to the pond. She jumped into the water and took the scruff of the cat. She disapeared under water, hauling him upwards, but moments later re-surfaced. Finally, she hauled him onto the land, and he started coughing, then shaking, his short fur stuck to his body.
Nightfur only needed to tell him once: "Get out of here", before he left quickly.
Nightfur turned back to Frogleap.
She grabbed the uncounsious warrior's scruff with her teeth, then hauled him back to camp.
---------------------------------
Dawn.
The fighting stopped and Stormclan made a treaty with Fireclan-they were both even now. Fireclan and Stormclan never fought against eachother since the bloody battles they had.
Frogleap was alive and okay-but some other cats weren't. Darkeyes died, and Jaggedfur had been killed by a Fireclan warrior.
Pinetail broke her leg, and retired from her warrior duties. Sharpstar lost one of his lives, but besides that, everyone was okay.
Kinda.
Days after the battle, Greencough set in. Sadly, it killed Moonfur and Frogleap. Nightfur was sad, and she cried for many days, but they didn't die painfully, and Nightfur knew they were in Starclan.
Mudclaw retired after moons of being a warrior, and he went to the Elder's den.
Moons after the battle, Nightfur retreated to the pond. She sat down and stared into the water. The wind blew at her face, and Nightfur grinned. She could hear the whispers of Moonfur and Frogleap beside her-but she couldn't make out there words.
Mom...Frogleap...I miss you both... She looked up towards the sky and sighed.
Are you proud of me? Because I am. I really, really am.

Nightfur: Senior warrior and deputy
She watched him walk away. Slowly. Reluctantly? Perphaps she was better off without him. Better off.
Half of her hated him, have of her begged him to stay. Of course he was going with Sharpstar.
Not Nightfur.
Why did you have to, Sunclaw?
She sulked and sat back at the border, watching Sharpstar and Sunclaw leave.
Sunclaw had been Nightfur's mate-a loner. They fell in love instantly when she brought him back to camp. He be-friended many cats of Stormclan with his charming, kind, and wise ways. But he had a thing for Nightfur. And she kinda liked him, too. So it was official.
They were mates.
Until now.
Sharpstar had been secretly mates with Sparrowstar-leader of Fireclan. Stormclan voted him to leave, Miststar was leader now. Nightfur was made deputy.
Sunclaw wanted to go with Sharpstar, though. Leave Nightfur behind, and go with Sharpstar.
Why....?
Nightfur begged him not to go.
it was no use.
Nightfur let a tear fall down her cheek.
I've lost my dad, and now I've lost Sunclaw, too... Nightfur bit her cheek. She was not the type to brake down crying, but today, she felt like she would.
She collapsed to the ground, her paws over her head.
He was gone.
My only love...Gone...
__________________________________________________
Nightstar: Leader of Stormclan
Nightfur was only deputy for while, until Miststar disapeared. She was made Nightstar, leader of Stormclan, and made Flintfeather deputy.
During her early moons of being a leader, she wasn't very organized. She was still recovering from her brake up with Sunclaw-she even thought about leaving Stormclan to folow him. But with not many cats in Stormclan, Nightstar knew she couldn't.
So she stayed leader-and loves every bit of it. She hopes to become better in leading her clan to many victorys. But it's harder then you would think.
Until today, Nightstar goes down to the pond, and says to herself,
Frogleap, Moonclaw, Mudclaw, Sunclaw, Sharpstar! I'm leader now! I never thought it would happen, but it has! I'm leader...
Nightstar.
Leader of Stormclan.
_______________________________
[Basic summary of her life:
She lived a good life as a kit and apprentice-bold, fearless, and excellent at fighting. The victory at Fireclan really helped Nightpaw realize she had a talent for fighting-she realized she was a true Stormclan cat.
Becoming a warrior was hard, though.
Frogleap and Moonfur died of Greencough, and Mudclaw died of old age. Sunclaw and Sharpstar-her two good friends beside Finchflight and Flintfeather-left her.
She was deputy for only 1 moon, then she became leader.
Moons after that, Finchflight left Stormclan, and Nightstar realized that she couldn't trust anyone as much anymore.
