Meet Mosskit:
Born without brothers or sisters on a foggy day, Mosskit was a sweety from the beginning.
She always would pad out of the nursery and follow the apprentices or warrior cats around, through and through curious.
Mosskit, having no brothers nor sisters, often had to find a way to entertain herself. She would play "toss the acorn" with Sedgepaw at times, but mostly she would stare out of the nursery and watch the activities the cats were doing.
One day, Mosskit woke up in the middle of the night. She went to Ivorytail, her mother.
"Mum, I cant' sleep."
Ivorytail mumbled and woke up. She yawned and lookd at Mosskit, her green eyes squinted. She grunted and laid her head back down.
"Why not?"
"I just cant," replied Mosskit.
Ivorytail sighed.
"Well try again."After a while Ivorytailw as asleep again.
Mosskit sighed.
She got up and walked out of the nursery., bored.
Thick fog covered the camp, and Mosskit couldn't see a foxlength from her nose.
It's so foggy!
The fog surrouned her, and Mosskit felt cold.
Mosskit suddenly wanted to go into the nursery, because there was to much fog!
She turned around, but it was gone! The fog covered it!
Mosskit started to panic. Where am I? Where did the nursery go?
Slowly she started to walk to where she thought the nursery was. But instead she fell into a puddle of mud. After a while, Mosskit cried out, the mud sucked to her fur as s he stepped out of the mud puddle.
"Mum! Dad!"
She couldn't hear anything. She cried out again.
No answer.
Suddenly Mosskit backd into a tree.
She jumped and turned around.
Their were no trees in CLoudclan camp....
Suddenly Mosskit knew she wasn't in camp. Mosskit started to cry, and she started to run forwards blindly. Stupi fog!
Mom! Dad!
"Hello?! Anyone! Somebody help me!"
She ran and ran, wheeling forwards frantically.
Starclan help me!
She stopped running once she felt grass under he paws, and she laid down, shivering.
Suddenly, the fog cleared a bit. Mosskit rolled over to lay on her back and stared up at the sky as the fog slowly disapeared a bit. I wanna go home!
But I still don't know how to get back to camp...I'm dead for sure!
She closed her eyes tight, then opened them again and stared at Silverpelt.
The stars twinkled, and Mosskit suddenly didn't feel afraid. The sky had a calming presence. Like she wasn't alone.
suddenly Mosskit could feel the presence of cats beside her, long, faded cats. Mosskit didnt shake, or didn't become afraid.
Part of her told herself that these cats were long lost cats of CLoudclan from long ago.
"Hello..?" She turned her head, and could only see the fog move to form a shape of a cat for moment, then disapear.
Whispers of cats made the meadow she was in seem eerie.
But Mosskit shrugged it off. She just stared up at the beautiful sky, wondering if her death was near.
__________
Pawsteps of cats. Warmth. Sweet smell of herbs.
Mosskit opened her eyes, and Light blinded her, so she closed her eyes tight and groaned.
Greatt...I'm in Starclan. I'm sorry Mom and Dad!
"Mosskit....Mosskit..." The taunting voice of a cat told her to open her eyes.
Mosskit grunted. "Why?" She curled into a ball, and her ears came into focus. Now she could hear a farmiliar voice...Ivorytail? Was she in Starclan too?
"Mosskit?" Now sh ecould feel paws of a cat, shaking her frantically. She squinted her eyes and moaned. She made out two forms of cats-Ivorytail and..another cat, faded, like the ones she saw in the meadow.
She closed her eyes again, then her eyes suddenly came into focus, and she opened them again.
Now she realized she wasn't in Starclan-she was in Cloudclan. The medicine cat den. She looked at Ivorytail, then realized the other cat disapeared.
Weirdness!
She sat up and stared at Ivorytail. Where did the other cat go...?
She shook her head and yawned.
"Hi mom." Ivorytail let a tear fall down her cheek.
"Hi, Mosskit."
She started licking Mosskit furioiusly, happiness in her eyes.
"We were so worried about you!"
Windpelt walked into the den and looked at Mosskit. He bit his lip and walked further into the den until he faced Mosskit.
"Please don't do that again, k?" Mosskit nodded at Windpelt.
"Sure thing! I didn't even mean to walk out of the nursery in the first place."
Windpelt laughed and licked Mosskit before heading back out.
Iovrytail smiled at Mosskit.
"Then how did you get to the meadow?"
Mosskit shrugged and sat up.
"I walked outside of the nursery, and I meant to go back in, I swear it, but then this weird fog came over me and I couldn't see where I was going and I was so scared and I thought I was going to die!" Mosskit spoke with no pauses, just speaking guiltily.
"I'm sorry, mom." She licked Mosskit.
"It's alright, sweety. We all make mistakes."
At apprentice age, Mosspaw learned quickly. She learned to hunt and to fight and how to track a cat. She gained stamina by running across Cloudclan's long meadows, and she became stealthy and quick.
Mosspaw was very proud of herself for this. She was the best of all the other apprentices! And Mosspaw's mentor, Gorsestar, was proud of her, too.
One day, Mosspaw and Sheeppaw headed out to the meadows.
They chit-chatted all the way there until they stopped.
Sheeppaw turned to Mosspaw.
"Hey, do you wanna race me? Everyone says you are the fastest runner in Cloudclan! But I am pretty fast, too!"
Mosspaw chuckled and nudged Sheeppaw.
"Are not! You are more like a lazy fox, wobbling around."
Sheeppaw nudged Mosspaw back.
"Wanna find out?" Sheeppaw grinned at Mosspaw as she got into a sprinting position. Mosspaw nodded and crouched.
"Ready.
Set.
Go!"
Sheeppaw and Mosspaw sprinted forwards, and Sheeppaw sprinted into first. Mosspaw was close behind her, though.
Mosspaw enjoyed the wind rushing in her face, and she loved the feeling of the grass under her paws.
Sheeppaw started to slow, so Mosspaw took action. She sprinted forwards and called out to her friend, "Let's stop at the Duskclan border!"
Sheeppaw, out of breath, nodded. Mosspaw sprinted full out, ahead of Sheeppaw by three lengths. The border was nearing, and the meadow was thinning out into a small forest.
Finally, once the grass was all gone, Mosspaw stopped, ahead of Sheeppaw.
Sheeppaw panted and gasped for air, then fell to the ground.
"Fine....fine...you..win,..."
Mosspaw started to laugh and fell down with Sheeppaw.
"You were pretty quick, though! You just have to work on your stamina skills," she said with a laugh.
The two apprentices laid there until they caught their breath, then they got up and started back to Cloudclan camp.
As they were coming out of the forest and onto the meadow again, they heard a rustle.
Then a high-pitched growl.
Mosspaw and Sheeppaw halted.
"Did you hear that...?"
Sheeppaw glanced at Mosspaw.
Mosspaw turned around slowly, as did Sheeppaw.
Behind them stood a huge, golden colored fox with white foam coming out of it's mouth.
Mosspaw widened her eyes, and started to back up.
"Sheepppawww....." She glanced at her friend and yelled, "Run!"
They both turned around and sprinted forwards. Mosspaw could hear the fox pounding after them.
But Mosspaw knew the fox couldn't catch her, she was the fastest cat of Cloudclan!
But then Mosspaw turned around and saw Sheeppaw lagging.
She sprinted behind her friend, her tail almost getting bitten off by the fox.
"Sheeppaw! Hurry up!"
Sheeppaw had a breathing problem, and if she ran to hard to quickly to much, she would start to wease. And that is what started to happen.
Sheeppaw slowed even further, and the fox caught up with them. It ran infront of them and turned, it's teeth showing. Mosspaw and Sheeppaw stopped right infront of the fox.
It's teeth showed at them, and it's white foam dripped onto the ground.
Mosspaw said to Sheeppaw, "Go back to camp. I got this."
Sheeppaw shook her head.
"No way I am leaving you! You will get killed!"
Mosspaw didn't have any time to say anymore.
The fox's claws lunged out at Mosspaw and Sheepaw. It hit them both in the face, and they fell backwards.
Mosspaw stood up, though and ran behind the fox. It was too slow to turn at her, so Mosspaw jumped onto it's huge back. She bit her teeth into it's neck, but it easily shrugged her off. It turned to Sheeppaw and lunged at her with it's teeth. Sheeppaw rolled out of the way.
"Sheeppaw! We need to get it on it's back, then run to the forest to camp!"
Sheeppaw was in a daze, and lying on the ground.
The fox was shaking it's head, foam flying everywhere.
Sheeppaw got up and ran to Mosspaw.
The fox turned on them again and reared up.
Mosspaw and Sheeppaw lunged and hit it's belly. It fell over with a screech, it's head landing on a rock.
Sheeppaw and Mosspaw sprinted away, to the small forest of Cloudclan.
They sprinted and sprinted, running into bushes, past thorns, past ponds, past trees and onto the meadow again.
They ran and ran to the Cloudclan camp nestled in a dip in the meadow.
They reached camp and ran in, yelling over and over, "Fox! A...fox! Is...he...re...." they had to catch their breath.
This alerted the cats who rushed out of camp to see if there really was a fox.
Indeed there was.
Mosspaw heard the screeches of cats fighting agianst the fox until it made no more noise.
