Shadowfall
"If your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme"
Age:
46 Moons
Gender:
She-Cat
Rank:
Warrior/Queen
Former Mentor:
Ashleg
Family Tree:
X
Description:
A raven she-cat with one white paw and soft, loving golden eyes. She is used to being the largest in a group of cats, but occasionally is over-sized, which she is uncomfortable with. Her ears are pointed and large, and she has a small, black nose. Her pelt typically has a ruffled look, as her beauty is not something she tends to focus on, but she has a sort of grace in her large step.
Personality:
Very clever and soft-hearted, Shadowfall is very close to her family and her mate, Stonestar. She is very proud and loyal, and prefers to keep the peace but will never turn down defending her Clan. Her dream was and still is to be the bravest warrior in StormClan, but she has denied any wish to be a deputy or leader. She likes to keep busy and active, and doesn't handle being stuck in one place well, but is patient and has a soft spot for apprentices, as she knows how tough it is to train in such a rough time.
Strengths:
Patient
Kind
Large
Forgiving
Trustworthy
Weaknesses:
Doesn't like to be in one place too long
Places her family over her Clan at times
Too friendly outside of the Clan
Tries to only see the good in things
Worries in silence very often
History:
And even in the darkest heart, light is often found.

Shadowkit:
Two golden eyes blinked up sleepily at the smell of something leafy, and she allowed her gaze to flicker back and forth curiously. She had never seen the world; and this was amazing. Her heart thudded with excitement, and her raven ears twitched at every sound.
"Oh, no, look who's decided to join the Clan," a cat purred jokingly, and she looked up to the black-and-white spotted she-cat looking down at her with large, owl-like golden eyes that sparkled in a way the kit admired. "I think you'll like it here." She nodded hesitantly, not knowing exactly what was being said but comforted by her voice.
"She's awake!" A meow boomed, and the kit now scurried back from the nest, slipping beneath an empty one not far away. "Ah, a quick little thing," the meow, which she identified as a tom's meow, got closer, and he lifted the nest ever so carefully. "You move fast, like a shadow!" He gave a hearty chuckle, looking back at the black-and-white cat. "If you haven't given her a name yet, how about that? Shadowkit?"
"Well, I'll think about it," the she-cat purred, eyeing him. "But for now let's just allow her to calm down, which means you," she got to her paws with a bit of a struggle. "Need to return to your duties."
"Well, well, snappy are we?" He brushed his tail over her maw in a teasing way, and the she-cat drew back with a giggle. "Fine, I'll get back to my duties, but don't expect me gone for long!" He winked at the kit, who now peered at him from under the nest as he lumbered out of the den.
"Don't be frightened," she said gently, plucking her from her hiding spot and trapping her wriggling figure between her large paws. "He's just silly. I am your mother," she leaned down, her purr filled with love and admiration. "My name is Blacknose, and that tom was your father. He is named Nightripple." She began to lick the kit's pelt, soothing her. "And I think I will name you Shadowkit, it fits you well." Shadowkit blinked slowly, her mind flashing back to the huge, pitch-black tom with dark green eyes. Her father? He seemed happy, and so did her mother, Blacknose. She giggled, burying closer into Blacknose's pelt and breathing deeply. Why had she kept her eyes closed for so long?

Shadowpaw:
"Close, very close," the apprentice's mentor yowled from the top of the tall oak tree, her ears pricked down toward her. "Just unsheathe your claws more, okay? Really dig them into the bark." The warrior, Ashleg, was one Shadowpaw admired not only for her patience and kindness, but also her beauty. She was a white she-cat with a pelt that was a bit thicker than the others, and her legs faded into a pale gray. It was said she had IceClan blood, but Shadowpaw dismissed this. How could such a loyal cat be even close to those pesky furballs?
"I-I don't want to hurt the tree," she stammered, trying to heave her lean figure onto the next branch. "It has been here longer than I, that would be disrespecting it." Ashleg let out a mrrow of laughter, waving her tail behind her.
"You can't hurt a tree, Shadowpaw," she said gently, climbing back down to meet her on the same branch. "For it is not like us. It does not breathe."
"And what's to say it doesn't feel pain? It hasn't a mouth to voice it." Shadowpaw said pointedly, wondering how Ashleg didn't feel the same. Perhaps this was an ordeal the apprentice would have to let go.
"Alright, let's do this without hurting the tree then," her mentor nodded, now stretching up as high as she could and curling her paws over a branch, pulling up and balancing herself on it. "You might not be able to climb many trees this way, and it's a bit unsafe, but it most definitely does not hurt the tree." Shadowpaw gave an appreciative nod, her large golden eyes now narrowing in concentration as she hoisted herself onto the next branch next to her mentor. "Perfect! Good job, ready to get down? You will need your claws for that." Ashleg unsheathed her claws again, scaling quickly down the tree and leaping onto the ground when she was close enough. "Now you tr-" she was interrupted by a loud thud as Shadowpaw landed next to her, now looking up with a shy smile. "Did you just leap from that branch?" Ashleg gasped, now sniffing her over for injuries. "Are you alright?"
"Fine, fine," Shadowpaw nodded, purring. She wouldn't admit that she was, in fact, sore all over. "Ready to head back to camp?" Her mentor looked at her doubtfully, seeing through her obvious lie, and then gave a slow nod, prodding next to the apprentice as they began home. Shadowpaw silently thanked Ashleg and her warrior ancestors that her mentor had decided not to force her to go to the medicine cat den, she hated that.

"You want to what?" The blue-gray tom's silver eyes grew wide at the apprentice's mention of attempting to swim, and he burst out in a fit of mocking laughter. "You? Want to swim? That'd ridiculous, we're StormClan cats."
"Ashleg said it's a useful skill." Shadowpaw snapped back quickly, her tail lashing behind her as she allowed the slow river's water to run over one of her paws. "Who knows when you'll run into water?"
"Ashleg is not a pure StormClan cat," the tom pointed out, his voice and expression now calmer and even. "Only a respected member."
"And doesn't that make her pure StormClan?" She retorted with a bit of snide, becoming very defensive of her mentor. "Besides, you're the one who goes about killing birds and leaving them buried. What a waste."
"I only did that once!" He jumped, silver eyes widening. "If you want to learn to swim, why did you drag me here? I'd like to sleep." Shadowpaw sighed heavily. It was nearly moonhigh, and she looked out at the calm river and admired the way the moon glistened on the rippling water. She bent over to look at her reflection, blinking slowly at the cat staring back at her. She always saw Nightripple in herself, and her eyes were just like Blacknose's. Both of her parents were gone now, and she had taken her time to mourn them. She knew their spirits ran with her, and so she did not grieve the loss too much.
