She looked down at the kit, forcing a light purr and brushing her feathery tail against her. "I know it'll be okay," she said slowly, trying to choose her words carefully. "There are just things I must worry about, but you," she crouched down to her level, her eyes glistening with friendliness. "You haven't anything to fret. No one in this Clan does. I will keep all of us safe, it is my job."
She took a generous bite of the prey, forcing herself to eat more even though it tasted like the dirt it was covered in. "Thank you." She finally mewled, twitching her ears down toward Reedkit.
Olivetail stepped lightly into camp, his contrasting coat fluffing up against the wind's chill. Even in the warmest of seasons, the mountains cast a frigid shadow along the camp. He praised starclan for his thick coat. Of course, Olivetail loved the cold. He was born into it, he seemed to have no choice. Padding over to the fresh-kill pile, he nosed through the prey a moment, unhappy with the pile's current state. Flicking a dark ear, he turned, relieved to see Brightstar out and about. Olivetail bounded over, dipping his head. "Brightstar. The pile is growing smaller, and it's only greenleaf. Should we organize more hunting parties?" His pale eyes cast a weary glance to the pile. The pile should be higher than ever! It's Greenleaf for Starclan's sake. He thought with an inward grumble.
She met his gaze almost grudgingly, letting out a short sigh. "Whitefish and I just hunted, there's not much out there. Frostfang and Heronfeather are currently at the Great River hunting, as well," she shook her head swiftly, swiping her tongue once over the fur on her chest.
"Although, a border patrol wouldn't hurt," she narrowed her eyes, looking out of the camp. "You never know what those StormClan pests are up to. You may take a patrol out if you wish. Any cat that seems fit enough to go may join you."
She small kit jumped under her leader quickly at the arrival of the tom, a quiet hiss leaving her as she back into the she cats hind leg. Her bright eyes flickered from the large Tom and back to her mother. His harsh tone certainly was new, and left the young kit frightened easily of the newcomer.

Sweetfern watched the exchange between Brightstar and Reedkit with great happiness in her heart. She nodded encouragingly to Reedkit as she looked back to her for support, her fluffy smokey tail wrapped neatly around her paws as she focused on the everyday Clan interaction and praised StarClan for moments like these.
The entrance of Olivetail was a cruel reminder that Clan life was not perfect or even peaceful, and she sighed as Reedkit started back. She ducked her head and lifted the small white and black kit lightly by her scruff, before setting her daughter close to herself. "Shhh there little one. This is another of your Clanmates, Olivetail. He is a very good and loyal warrior." Assured the queen to the small kit with a kind and soothing lick to her ears. But even her stomach churned lightly at the thought of low prey in Greenleaf, and StormClan's proximity. Her stomach clenched and she had to fight down quick panicked thoughts. ~If prey is so low in GreenLeaf again, then Leafbare will be... No.. Oh StarClan I can't lose another litter!~ She bared her teeth and subconsciously drew Reedkit a little closer to her side as the unwelcome thought presented itself to her. However the only outward sign of her true stress was a slight flattening of her ears and fluffing of her coat.
Olivetail flicked an ear, dismissing his leader's aggravated tone. Clamping his jaws shut, he nodded. Don't open your mouth Olivetail, everyone's stressed. Can't blame her. He looked around, the small hissing kit drawing his attention. Summoning a warm smile, he nodded his head to the kit and queen. More often than not, his cold expression but others off, something he was fine with. Olivetail had never been an overly social cat.
"Sweetfern, Reedkit." He greeted smoothly. Looking to Brightstar, he continued. "Would you join us on the border patrol, Brightstar? Surely you'd like to stretch your legs." He waited on her snappy response, as it seemed she were as cold as the land in which they lived.
She took a moment to think this through. What if Frostfang returned injured? Or there were an emergency while she was out of the camp? She rolled her eyes at herself, now flicking her gaze back to Olivetail. "I'll join you," she meowed, taking another quick glance at Sweetfern and Reedkit.
If there were an injury on any cat, Dapplesky would easily know how to care for them without Brightstar's presence. Only the thought of an ambush worried her. "But we must return quick. We can't have too many warriors out of camp at once. Who else is going?"
Olivetail blinked his pale eyes in surprise. No snappy reply? Strange. He couldn't help but smirk as she rolled her eyes. Not without some sass I see. He understood her hesitancy though, these were worrisome times for everyone. The thought made him flex his claws into the ground.
"Glad you'll be joining us." He purred, scanning the clearing at her question. He would pick two other warriors, or a warrior and apprentice. They needed warriors at camp as well. Twitching his whiskers, he returned his gaze to Brightstar. "You know what's best, why don't you decide. Perhaps another warrior and apprentice?" He suggested, thinking the plan over in his head.
By bringing an apprentice it will not only give them experience, but leave yet another warrior to guard camp if the need arises. He shrugged. The plan seemed solid enough if his leader were up to it.
The young kit cuddled close to her mother her ears pinned at the large tone before she hissed quietly at him again. She moved to sit between her mother's paws, watching the large cat carefully. 'Momma you can go.. I'll stay with the others in the nursery' she murmured quietly looking up at her sweetly.
Her impression of the tom was harsh. Her fluffy fur had somehow bristled until she huffed quietly and lay down in the dirt.

Sweetfern dipped her head back to Olivetail with a warm smile. "Hello Olivetail. How are you today?" She asked congenially, her smokey gray ears twitching slightly as she listened to the conversation between the leader and warrior quietly.
Sweetfern looked down with a chuckle and nuzzled Reedkit lightly. "I'll go out on patrols when you and your siblings are apprenticed. Until then I get to stay here and take care of you three!" She said cheerily, her warm topaz eyes showing that she had absolutely no qualms about being in camp with her kits. She frowned only once as Reedkit hissed at Olivetail again and she nudged her gently. "Now now Reedkit. Don't hiss. You should never hiss at your Clanmates. They are your family." She chided softly.
She raised her gaze proudly, lashing her tail. "Alright," she meowed, taking a quick look over the camp. It was a very small Clan, at the moment - the constant battling and unusual famine were doing a large toll on IceClan, and she felt a pang of dread in her heart. Was she not doing a good enough job as leader? She tried not to pick fights with StormClan, and yet she felt as if their prowling eyes were on her camp every day.
"Bluepaw?" She called for the apprentice, glancing around for him. She would not wait forever, and she feared taking another warrior would leave Sweetfern and her kits too exposed. One apprentice would be enough to add onto the patrol, and he didn't have too much experience outside of the camp.
Olivetail rose to his paws, paying no mind to the hissing bundle of fur backing away from him. "I am well Sweetfern." He replied. "Yourself?" He offered her a slight smile before perking his ears at his leader's raised voice.
Two warriors and an apprentice. Not much of a patrol. He sighed inwardly. His pale gaze turned to the apprentice den, waiting for her apprentice to join them. With such a small patrol, Olivetail decided inwardly to pay closer attention to their surroundings. If a larger rival patrol were to ambush them, they would be crowfood.
Finally, Frostfang emerged into the clearing. As the shadows began to dissipate, his amber eyes shone in the light, two plump voles dangling from his jaws. Dropping his prey upon the fresh-kill pile, Frostfang shook out his silvery pelt before scanning the clearing. His golden gaze fixed on the small white kit.
A small smile adorned his face, however he tried his best not to seem overly "soft". His ear twitched in the direction of the camp entrance, and he turned back toward it.
"Take your time, Heronfeather," he called out, before huffing with impatience. Frostfang sat down, lost in thought, sweeping his tail over his paws as he waited for the warrior to return.
Brightstar watched Frostfang as he padded in, cocking her head at the absence of Heronfeather. She bounded to him, brushing past Olivetail dismissively and stopping abruptly, keeping herself from scolding him. "My, that took a long time," she said passively, glancing around. "Where's Heronfeather?"
She stood close to him, her eyes searching over him for injuries. She did worry too much about him, it was obvious, but she couldn't help it. She had grown to be quite attached to him, and had always seen him as the kit she would never have, as she preferred to keep away from the idea of distracting herself with a mate.
Frostfang blinked once and turned to see his leader bounding toward him. He dipped his head apologetically. "Sorry for that. Heronfeather thought she saw some prey, and she's just by the entrance. Should be back at any moment." Frostfang noticed her eyes scanning over him, and his whiskers twitched with amusement although he shouldn't have found her concern amusing. "I'm fine, really. It's Heronfeather seeing things that we should be worried about," he joked. "Anyway, there are quite a few voles around the Great River, so that's good news. Anything to report, here?" His eyes moved back to the members of the Clan, observing them.
